The WNBA is investigating alleged hateful comments from fans during the Indiana Fever’s 93-58 win over the Chicago Sky, according to a statement released by the league on Sunday. The investigation follows reports that fan Angel Reese was subjected to boos multiple times in the game, including at team introductions and during a scrum under the basket in the third quarter.
Indiana Fever coach Stephanie White stated that the WNBA has no place for hateful speech, saying “it’s great to be a fan, but don’t be a jerk.” Turner also expressed support for the investigation, stating “one person is too many” when it comes to hate speech. The WNBA will look into the matter and take action if necessary.
