WNBA Star Wins $200,000 in Unrivaled One-on-One Tournament

WNBA star Napheesa Collier has won the inaugural women’s basketball one-on-one tournament, earning $200,000 in prize money. This win surpasses her annual WNBA salary by just $8,000. The tournament was co-founded by Collier and fellow WN player Breanna Stewart, featuring top players from the WNBA and abroad.

The 3-on-3 competition’s postseason final is set for March 17. The tournament features a rapid-fire, single-elimination bracket with 23 players, who played a total of 24 games in the week-long event. Games were broadcast on TNT under a multiyear rights deal.

Collier took home the top prize, with her teammates Allisha Gray, Courtney Williams, Skylar Diggins-Smith, and Shakira Austin each receiving $10,000 as complementary prizes. Runner-up Aaliyah Edwards earned $50,000, while semifinalists Arike Ogunbowale and Azurá Stevens received $25,000 each.

The tournament was played with a unique half-court setup and running clock, with the winner determined by reaching 11 points first or having the most points after 10 minutes. The final round was a best-of-3 matchup, with Collier defeating Azurá Stevens and Aaliyah Edwards emerging as runner-up.
