A tense scene from Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver’s 2019 film “Marriage Story” is being used to scare away wolves that have been terrorizing livestock on farms across the US West Coast.
The US Department of Agriculture is broadcasting audio clips, including a fight scene from the movie, over loudspeakers in rural areas to deter the wolves. According to Paul Wolf, a USDA district supervisor in Oregon, the goal is to make the wolves associate humans with fear.
Gray wolves have been “terrorizing livestock herds” across the region, and the USDA has tried various methods to scare them away, including using drones with fireworks, gunshots, and music from heavy metal bands like AC/DC and Five Finger Death Punch.
