Woman Caught with 82 Fireworks, Other Prohibited Items at LAX

A traveler was caught with dozens of fireworks and other prohibited items in her carry-on luggage at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). On December 15, a screener discovered 82 consumer-grade fireworks, three knives, two replica firearms, and pepper spray in the woman’s bag. The incident is a reminder to travelers to double-check their bags before arriving at the airport.

The TSA reports that the items were found during a routine search, and law enforcement was involved. The passenger was interviewed by police while the LAX bomb squad confiscated the fireworks. This incident follows recent attempts by other passengers to bring contraband through LAX.

In 2023, 2.5 million people passed through security checkpoints on December 15, with 2.6 million people passing through this year. The TSA emphasizes that prohibited items, such as explosives and firearms, are never permitted in luggage, even if they are checked or carried on.
