A woman has finally met her long-lost relatives after a 121-year-old postcard was delivered at an address in Swansea. The postcard, sent in 1903, arrived at the home of Swansea Building Society earlier this month and led to a reunion between descendants of its sender and recipient.
Helen Roberts, who still lives in the area, had been tracing her family tree online when she received a message from a lady who had seen the article on social media. The message contained information that revealed the address and name of the person the postcard was sent to – which happened to be her grandfather’s family home as a child.
As soon as Ms Roberts saw the address, she recognized it straight away and realized that Lydia, the recipient of the postcard, was her grandfather’s sister. On Wednesday, Ms Roberts met with Ewart’s grandson Nick Davies and Lydia’s great-granddaughter Faith Reynolds.
The reunion has enabled Ms Roberts to close a few loose ends and find out more about her grandfather’s siblings. The family is scattered across the UK, with relatives living in Canada having also contacted Nick Davies after the story was first shared.
