Wordle Hints and Answer: Decry the Way to Victory

As the days between Christmas and New Year’s Eve approach, I often feel a sense of winter melancholy. This “liminal week” can be tough, but it also brings a new challenge: solving today’s Wordle.

With a hint from the public denouncing others, we have a starting point. The clue that this Wordle begins with a consonant helps narrow down the possibilities.

For those who need help or just want to analyze their guesses, I use Wordle Bot. With 49 remaining possible solutions and three yellow boxes, I was able to track down the correct answer: DECRY.

If you’re playing Competitive Wordle, here’s how it works: guessing in 1 is worth 3 points, while guessing in 4 or more brings no points or even penalty points. Beating your opponent earns you a point, tying gets you zero, and losing deducts one point. Fridays are double experience days.

To celebrate the holiday season, I’ll share some fun facts about today’s Wordle answer: the word “decry” comes from Old French “descrier,” meaning to cry out or announce.
