World Bank to Announce $12 Billion Argentina Financing Package

The World Bank is set to announce a $12 billion financing package for Argentina on Friday. This move comes as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is expected to approve a $20 billion loan deal for the country. The Inter-American Development Bank is also anticipated to unveil its own funding plan.

Argentina’s central bank recently announced it will relax foreign exchange market controls, allowing the peso to freely fluctuate within a moving band of between 1,000 and 1,400 pesos per dollar. This step is seen as a prerequisite for unlocking new financing from international institutions.

The expected financing packages mark an important development in Argentina’s economic recovery efforts.
