The world’s largest Legoland resort has officially opened its doors in Shanghai, China, welcoming visitors with a colossal Lego figure named Dada. Standing over 26 meters tall, Dada is the perfect welcome to the massive 85 million brick resort, which marks China’s inaugural Legoland destination.
The resort features various attractions, including Miniland, a unique area that replicates famous landmarks from around the world using Lego bricks. Visitors can explore sights like Beijing’s Temple of Heaven and Shanghai’s Bund waterfront, as well as embark on a boat tour through a historic Chinese water town built entirely with Lego bricks.
Tickets to the resort range from $44 to $84, depending on the experience chosen. The new resort is the result of a collaboration between Merlin Entertainments, the LEGO Group, and the Shanghai government.
Notably, this year has seen key appointments within Merlin Entertainments, including Fiona Eastwood’s appointment as the company’s new boss in the UK. As part of her role, she aims to lead the company to “new heights” with a focus on performance, creativity, operational excellence, and guest experience.
In recent years, Legoland has been involved in various initiatives, including creating exhibits featuring British Olympians and Paralympians in Lego form. The latest example is an exhibit titled “Going for Gold,” which showcases iconic moments from the world of sports using 2,024 Lego bricks over 60 hours.
