Blizzard’s upcoming expansion, “World of Warcraft: Midnight”, is packed with exciting features that promise to shake up the game. Player housing, a long-awaited feature, is finally available for try on the show floor.
However, what’s even more intriguing is the new system called “Prey”. This open-world exploration mechanic introduces randomized ambushes from boss-like enemies with pre-selected targets from a bounty list. It bears resemblance to Monolith Productions’ Lord of the Rings games and Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey’s Mercenaries. Players can hunt Prey targets, which in turn will be hunting them back.
The Haranir, a new Allied race, is also making its debut. These characters resemble a mix between Trolls and Night Elves and inhabit a bioluminescent mushroom jungle called Harandar. They can choose to join either the Horde or Alliance.
In terms of zones, Midnight takes place across four new areas in Azeorth, including a reimagined Eversong Woods and the long-abandoned Zul’Aman zone. A 40-on-40 player-versus-player battleground, Slayer’s Rise, will also be introduced. Additionally, an updated experience for new and returning players is available, focusing on familiar NPC faces like Jaina Proudmoore.
Pre-orders are now live, offering early access to player housing, one of the most anticipated features of the expansion.
