Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) 2025 kicked off with a focus on smaller tweaks and features rather than bold claims about its technology. The company introduced a visual overhaul of its operating systems, dubbed Liquid Glass, which aims to bring them more in line with each other and share features across platforms.
The new OS design includes changes to the iPhone’s phone app, making it available on both iOS and macOS, as well as updates to Apple Intelligence. These updates include live translation capabilities and improved image processing for group chats.
In contrast to last year’s WWDC, which saw some disappointing announcements about Siri, Apple’s focus on practical utility is welcome. The company prioritizes features that make users’ lives easier, rather than trying to outdo its rivals in AI.
Other news includes the release of ROG Xbox Ally handheld gaming devices during the 2025 holiday season and early review thoughts on Nintendo Switch 2. Additionally, Warner Bros. Discovery is set to split into two media giants, with one company holding onto Warner Bros., New Line, DC Studios, HBO, and HBO Max.
The Legend of Zelda movie has also been delayed by six weeks from its original release date in 2027 to May 7. However, director Wes Ball aims to create a live-action film that honors the spirit of Hayao Miyazaki’s work.
Lastly, YouTube has relaxed its rules around moderating problematic content, including misinformation, allowing it to remain on the platform even if it violates community guidelines.
