WWE recently looked beyond Goldberg to consider Gunther’s next World Title challengers on Raw. The company’s Saudi Arabia trip for Night Of Champions led to an exhausted crew returning to the US for a twin live Raw and taped SmackDown special. Monday night’s episode featured several positives, including title changes, returns, and intriguing matchlines.
Gunther was set up for his Saturday Night’s Main Event clash with Goldberg, but Goldberg’s absence was disappointing. WWE also telegraphed a match finish ahead of time, which dampened the crowd. Furthermore, Triple H’s handling of Raw’s tag-team division is questionable.
However, the positives outweighed the negatives. A standout segment featured Gunther, Seth Rollins, CM Punk, and LA Knight interacting, as well as Sami Zayn’s main event appearance. Creative began lining up matches for Evolution, which should be exciting for fans concerned about an empty PLE.
Overall, Monday’s Raw was a solid show with more good than bad to report.
