WWE’s Sudden Switch on Jey Uso’s Title Reign Raises Questions

WWE recently ended Jey Uso’s world title reign abruptly, and fans are left wondering why. The sudden change came after Goldberg was absent from Raw, and GUNTHER emerged as the new champion.

Uso’s reign lasted less than two months with only two successful title defenses, including a rushed match against Logan Paul on Saturday Night’s Main Event. A disqualification finish on Raw also took place.

According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer, the plan is for Goldberg’s retirement match next month to be as big as possible by putting GUNTHER’s world title on the line. The reason for this decision was reportedly due to scheduling conflicts with All In Texas and the fact that Paul Levesque wanted to make Gunther vs. Goldberg a title match.

This decision has sparked debate among fans, particularly regarding the booking of John Cena’s heel character trying to retire as champion. With Goldberg set to face GUNTHER on July 12, it seems like WWE is prioritizing that match over other potential contenders, including Goldberg against Cena. Fans are questioning why WWE chose to book Goldberg vs. GUNTHER instead of Cena, who would likely be a bigger draw.
