US golf star Wyndham Clark has been banned from prestigious Oakmont Country Club after damaging lockers during a recent fit of anger at the US Open. The 31-year-old, who represented the US in the last Ryder Cup, must now undergo anger management to regain access.
Clark had previously attracted attention for throwing his driver at a sign during a temper tantrum at the US PGA Championship in May. He apologized for the incident, saying it was part of a difficult year but vowed to move on and focus on the rest of the season. However, Oakmont has insisted that Clark undergo anger management if he wants to return to the venue.
The ban is seen as unprecedented, especially given Clark’s high profile. The club has outlined several conditions for reinstatement, including full repayment of damages, a charity donation, and completion of counseling sessions. Clark will begin his latest US Open bid at Portrush this week, tied for 46th in the Masters so far this year with his next major just over three years away at Oakmont in 2033.
