Frosthaven, a spiritual successor to Gloomhaven, is being adapted into a video game by Snapshot Games. The PC adaptation will feature six starting character classes and 20 quests, allowing players to experience the board game’s deep mechanics and challenging scenarios.
Developed by CEO Julian Gollop, who also created X-COM, the project aims to replicate the board game experience in a digital format. Isaac Childres, the designer of Frosthaven, is also involved in the adaptation process.
Players will need to balance risk and reward as they explore the world of grim fantasy, manage resources, and build their own outpost. The game features tactical turn-based combat and co-op multiplayer for up to four players.
A closed beta playtest for Frosthaven begins on March 27 and runs through April 24, giving fans a chance to experience the game before its eventual PC release, which is currently untitled but expected in the future.
