X has launched a new image generator, called Aurora, as part of its Grok assistant, but some users experienced issues accessing the feature. The AI-powered tool can generate images of public figures like Mickey Mouse without restrictions.
Aurora is accessible through the Grok tab on X’s mobile apps and web platform. It appears to be built using an existing image generator model or a collaboration with a third-party developer, with at least one xAI employee involved in fine-tuning the tool.
Musk previously hinted at an internal “image generation system” under development, stating it will improve rapidly. Aurora excels at creating photorealistic images, including landscapes and still lifes. However, users have reported some inaccuracies, such as objects blending unnaturally together or people without fingers.
