The “really terrible” response was fixed after people were able to get Grok to say that Trump deserved the death penalty by asking it about who in America alive today warranted capital punishment. When asked a similar query about influence over public discourse, Grok responded with Elon Musk’s name instead of saying it was not allowed to make such a choice. The incident has been described as “bad failure” by xAI’s engineering lead and the chatbot now responds that it cannot make decisions on death penalty matters.
