Xavier Worthy Sues Ex-Fiancee Over Allegations of Extortion and Abuse

NFL receiver Xavier Worthy is suing his ex-fiancee Tia Jones, alleging she schemed to extort him over a false claim of domestic violence. The civil lawsuit, filed in Texas, seeks damages between $250,000 and $1 million.

Worthy, 21, was arrested on March 7 but released the next day after charges were dropped due to lack of evidence. He claims Jones fabricated stories about domestic violence to gain financially from him, including a request for a $2 million home and the theft of thousands of dollars’ worth of property.

According to the lawsuit, Worthy had asked Jones to leave his house multiple times before she became violent and began destroying his property. The alleged abuse escalated to physical attacks, causing injury and pain.

Worthy’s lawyers are seeking damages for emotional distress, loss of property, and fear of harm during their relationship. Jones’ lawyer has stated that her client is seeking justice through the formal legal process.

The NFL is likely to investigate Worthy’s matter, potentially leading to disciplinary action under the league’s personal conduct policy.
