Xbox App Brings Universal Gaming Hub to PC, Integrates Storefronts

Microsoft has announced that its Xbox app on PC is now integrating purchased games from various storefronts, including Steam, into a single universal launcher. The feature is currently limited to Xbox Insider program members. This move aims to turn the Xbox app into a central gaming hub for PC users.

The update aggregates titles across supported stores like Steam, Epic Games, and Battle.net, making it easier for gamers to access their purchased games in one place. However, Microsoft has not disclosed which storefronts are currently supported and did not provide further comment on the matter.

This development comes as Microsoft seeks to establish Xbox as a universal gaming hub, rather than a distinct console environment. The company faces competition from PlayStation and Nintendo, with Sony’s PlayStation 5 selling over 61 million units compared to Xbox Series consoles’ 28.3 million in September 2024.

As part of its effort to strengthen the Xbox brand, Microsoft is working closely with Windows teams to ensure gaming remains on PC as a top platform. This approach may lead to an Xbox console that resembles a gaming PC and aligns with the company’s recent marketing strategy. An upcoming Xbox-branded Meta Quest 3S headset has also sparked rumors about the future of the Xbox ecosystem.
