Xbox App Update to Show Steam and Epic Games Ownership

Microsoft has revealed a new UI mockup for its Xbox app, showcasing what games players own across various devices and storefronts, including Steam. The mockup, recently spotted by The Verge, features tabs for “Steam” and “Game Pass,” indicating that users will be able to view games based on their purchase platform.

The proposed UI aims to provide seamless integration across platforms, catering to younger generations who frequently switch between Xbox, PC, and other devices. This move is part of Microsoft’s strategy to unify its services, including the upcoming release of an Xbox handheld console later this year.

However, it appears that the UI is still in development, with duplicate tabs and a rough outline. The mockup gives insight into what the Xbox app update might look like, which would allow players to view their game libraries across Steam and the Epic Games Store. GOG Galaxy already offers similar functionality, but Microsoft’s move could potentially expand its reach.

This development comes as part of Microsoft’s efforts to enhance the Xbox experience on various devices, including mobile platforms. The company has also been releasing its first-party titles on rival platforms, such as the “This is an Xbox” campaign.
