Xbox has confirmed its handheld gaming device is actually a next-gen ROG Ally, partnering with ASUS to create the crossover hardware. This news comes just two days before the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct event.
The teaser trailer for the ROG Ally Xbox handheld shows a robot working on itself before merging with an ROG Ally-like device. The trailer hints at improvements such as longer battery life, faster speeds, and more storage capacity. The device is expected to feature an Xbox button, similar to the Armory Crate buttons found on existing ROG Allys.
Sources suggest that the handheld will be priced between $499 and $599, although this may change before launch. Next-gen Xbox hardware, also targeting 2027 release, will likely have a closer connection to Windows than ever before.
The news excites gaming enthusiasts, especially those who appreciate the excellent performance and comfortable design of the ROG Ally X, which supports VRR and is more affordable than some PC handheld competitors. With the inclusion of AMD Ryzen Z2 chips, next-gen ROG Ally handholds could become powerful portable gaming devices.
