Xbox Handheld Teased with ASUS ROG Ally Trailer

Microsoft’s rumored Xbox-branded handheld gaming console has been teased in a new trailer by hardware manufacturer ASUS. The teaser shows a short video of the ASUS ROG Ally gaming handheld, along with an Xbox-style controller and Xbox guide button. However, it’s not until the end of the video that Microsoft’s involvement is confirmed with a response from Xbox’s official social media account using the side-eye monkey meme.

The trailer suggests that the Xbox-branded handheld will be released later this year in collaboration with ASUS, targeting gamers who are looking for a portable gaming experience. According to reports, the device will be a stopgap while Microsoft continues developing its own internal Xbox handheld console, which is expected to launch in 2027 alongside an Xbox Series X/S successor.

The release of the Xbox-branded handheld comes as other major gaming companies, including Sony and Nintendo, are also working on their own portable gaming consoles. Sony’s rumored PS5 handheld device is said to be in development, while Nintendo’s highly anticipated Switch 2 console is set to reveal its details soon.

As gamers eagerly await more information about the Xbox-branded handheld, it remains to be seen whether Microsoft will finally confirm its partnership with ASUS and release the device later this year.
