Xbox is finally rolling out the ability for beta testers to purchase games, DLC, and sign up for Game Pass directly from its mobile app on Android and iOS. However, this update comes with a catch: users will no longer be able to access remote play within the Xbox app.
The feature, previously planned for November but delayed due to “temporary administrative stay”, is now available to beta testers. According to Xbox president Sarah Bond, the update will be rolled out to all users “soon”.
Once live, users can expect a “Buy” button on game pages if they have saved payment information. They’ll also be able to preorder games and set them to preinstall in their Xbox consoles. Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will gain access to streaming select games from their consoles.
Additional updates include the integration of remote play with Samsung TVs, Amazon Fire TV devices, and Meta Quest headsets. A new game hub feature has also been added, providing users with relevant information about a game, such as player stats and achievements.
Despite the loss of remote play within the app, Xbox’s mobile app is now offering more convenient features for gamers.
