Microsoft’s new Xbox-branded handheld, the Xbox ROG Ally, is set to go on pre-order in August, with a launch expected two months later. The device will be available in several countries, including Australia, Europe, and North America.
The Xbox ROG Ally supports popular gaming platforms like Steam, GOG, Battle.net, and Ubisoft Connect, allowing users to play Windows games purchased through these services. Two versions of the system will be released: the Xbox Rog Ally X and the lower-spec Xbox Rog Ally.
Retail data suggests that the premium model will cost €899, while the base model will be priced at €599. The device’s announcement follows comments from Microsoft’s VP of Next Generation, Jason Ronald, who stated that the handheld combines the best of Xbox and Windows to bring experiences for both players and developers to the broader Windows ecosystem.
The Xbox ROG Ally is a collaboration between Asus and Microsoft, featuring Xbox branding and a bespoke operating system. It will be available in several markets at launch, with availability to follow in other regions where ROG products are sold today.
