Microsoft is set to launch its AI-powered gaming assistant, Copilot for Gaming, next month. The tool will help players with game recommendations and improve their skills. It will be available on mobile first, with the option to access it via the Xbox app as a second-screen companion.
The AI assistant is designed to provide personalized support to gamers, helping them save time and enhance their gaming experience. According to Fatima Kardar, Xbox’s corporate vice president of Gaming AI, Copilot should act as “your companion” that helps players connect with families and communities.
In a demo shown during the podcast, Copilot was seen assisting in Overwatch 2 by recommending heroes to counter opponents. The tool will not be intrusive, adapting itself to the player’s preferred style.
Copilot is the latest development in Microsoft’s AI push, following its launch of ChatGPT in late 2022 and the integration of AI into other parts of its business. However, some developers have raised concerns about the potential impact on software development jobs due to AI.
