Xenoblade Chronicles X to Potentially Reach 60 FPS on Switch 2?

A recent discovery in the code of Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition has sparked speculation about a potential upgrade to 60 frames per second (fps) on Nintendo’s upcoming Switch 2 console. The game’s modder, MasaGratoR, shared a screenshot showing an unused 60 fps mode that is “implemented only partially” due to “weird issues” when activated.

While the 60 fps mode may be problematic, it raises questions about why the developers didn’t fully implement it. The Switch 2 specs seem capable of handling such a framerate boost. However, Nintendo has not announced whether backwards-compatible Switch games will receive an upgrade on the new console.

Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition was released on March 20 for Switch and features improved visuals and new story content compared to its Wii U predecessor. The game’s potential upgrade to 60 fps on Switch 2 is a topic of interest among fans, with some speculating that it may be included in the next console generation.
