Xiaomi has started mass producing its self-developed Xring O1 advanced mobile chip. Lei Jun, the company’s founder, announced this development on Tuesday. The first products to utilize the chip are the Xiaomi 15S Pro smartphone and the Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra. The new chips will power these devices and mark a significant milestone in Xiaomi’s efforts to become self-sufficient in chip design.
According to Lei, the Xring O1 was developed with an investment of $1.87 billion. The company plans to continue investing in chip design over the next decade, aiming to spend at least 50 billion yuan. This commitment showcases Xiaomi’s ambition to establish itself as a major player in the global chip market.
