Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has unveiled its second electric vehicle, the YU7, which is set to compete directly with Tesla’s best-selling Model Y in China. The luxury high-performance SUV boasts advanced features such as intelligent door handles and a panoramic display, reaching speeds of 253 kilometers per hour and having a maximum range of 835 kilometers. With a predicted sales success similar to its predecessor SU7, Xiaomi’s move is seen as another challenge to Tesla’s dominance in the Chinese market. The competition from Chinese tech firms like Xiaomi may ultimately affect international sales, with analysts predicting that Tesla’s near-term automotive business remains too high and does not fully reflect the quantum of incremental capacity and competition coming out of China.
