XREAL Unveils Android XR Glasses “Project Aura” with 70-degree Field-of-View

XREAL has announced its first pair of Android XR glasses, “Project Aura,” which will feature a 70-degree field-of-view and be designed as a compact VR/XR headset. The company is teasing significant advancements in hardware for this release.

The glasses will showcase a new “flat prism lens” that enables the wider field-of-view despite being smaller than existing lenses. They will also come equipped with an X1S chipset alongside its Snapdragon chip, providing substantial processing power. However, the majority of the components that power Android XR will be housed in a separate, tethered device called a “puck.”

This external device will sit in your pocket and can be disconnected for easier storage. The wire built into the glasses will connect to this puck, which is similar to how other devices like Samsung’s “Project Moohan” and Apple’s Vision Pro work.

The release window for “Project Aura” has been confirmed as 2026, with a full six months of development time left before its launch. XREAL has also announced that the glasses will come equipped with forward-facing sensors for hand tracking, further enhancing the user experience.
