Yellowjackets Season 3 Review: A Rebound Yet to Come?

Yellowjackets’ third season has finally arrived on Paramount+, but I’m coming into it with a mix of excitement and skepticism. The first two episodes have shown promise, with the wilderness storyline picking up where it left off in Season 1. Coach Ben’s discovery of a pit filled with supplies and the girls’ new village raise some hope that this season will return to its dark and mysterious roots.

However, the modern-day storyline continues to underwhelm, with the recent developments feeling like mere filler. The show’s creators seem to have lost their way in terms of direction and tone, leaving fans wondering if they’ve lost sight of what made Yellowjackets so compelling in the first place.

The characters, once a major selling point for the show, now feel worn out and uninteresting. Young Natalie’s leadership role at the end of Season 2 is jarring, while young Travis remains a highlight of the series. Meanwhile, old Shauna has lost all credibility after her shocking actions in the previous season.

As I eagerly await each new episode, I’ll be keeping an eye on whether Season 3 can course-correct and reclaim its former glory. Can Yellowjackets prove me wrong? Only time will tell.
