Yellowjackets Showrunners Hint at Positive Season 4 Outcome

Showtime hasn’t officially renewed Yellowjackets for a fourth season, but clues suggest the show may have been given new life. Variety reports that viewership grew with each subsequent season, with almost 2 million people tuning in to the premiere of season three. The show’s creators, Ashley Lyle, Bart Nickerson, and Jonathan Lisco, had initially planned for a five-season run.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Lyle stated that they don’t see Yellowjackets as a show that can go on forever. She believes in reaching a satisfying conclusion to the story, especially since it’s about characters’ lives. However, the finale of season three hints at the possibility of rescue for the main characters, leaving room for further storytelling.

Lisco added that the characters have changed significantly over their time in the wilderness, making them ripe for exploration in flashbacks. The showrunners believe this new direction would be “really ripe for storytelling” and allow them to delve deeper into the characters’ development.
