Yellowstone Director Explains Taylor Sheridan’s Travis Cameo

Taylor Sheridan, co-creator and writer of Yellowstone, has explained why his character Travis appeared in several episodes of the final season. According to executive producer Christina Alexandra Voros, Sheridan aimed to balance the show’s darker tone after Kevin Costner’s exit. “He wanted to bring some comic relief” to a season that was otherwise melancholy.

Voros praised Sheridan’s skills as a writer and director, saying he is “tremendous” at being a salesman and beating the system. To add levity to the show, Sheridan cast himself as Travis in several scenes, including a strip poker party where guest star Bella Hadid appeared.

While Voros acknowledges that some of these scenes may not have been the best choice, she believes they served the story. The cameo allowed for comic relief and humanized Travis’s character. However, some critics felt that certain scenes, such as the strip poker party, went too far and were unnecessary.

As for future appearances by Travis, Voros didn’t comment on whether he will show up in the spinoff series with Beth and Rip or the slow-moving 6666 spinoff set at a Texas ranch.
