A 22-year-old mother-of-one had a ‘lucky’ break when she was laughed at for her ‘drunk’ foot symptom, only to discover it was a terminal cancer symptom. Jade Collett’s experience has left doctors baffled as her brain tumour remains the same size nine years after diagnosis.
Jade visited her GP with pain and numbness in her right foot, which turned outwards, forcing her to be carried home due to the pain. Initially, her friends thought she was intoxicated but when her symptoms persisted, Jade underwent further testing, including an MRI scan, which revealed a brain tumour in her motor cortex.
Jade had Grade 4 Glioblastoma, the most aggressive type of cancer, and doctors predicted she would not live beyond two years. However, after undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy, Jade’s tumour has remained stable, defying doctors’ predictions.
Nine years on, Jade is still alive and credits her unusual foot symptom for catching her hidden cancer early. The 32-year-old mum-of-one says her experience has left doctors speechless as they have no idea what’s behind her remarkable recovery.
