YouTube is rolling out a new feature that allows creators to generate custom instrumental backing music using AI technology. The update, being gradually rolled out to eligible creators, enables users to access a “Music Assistant” tab in the Creator Music marketplace.
To create their tracks, creators can describe their desired sound and style, including instrument options, mood, and video type. They’ll have access to suggested prompts and will be able to download generated music for free, with no copyright claims.
This feature builds on YouTube’s earlier experiment with “Dream Track,” a generative AI tool developed by DeepMind’s Lyria. The update aims to provide creators with another free option for adding music to their videos, making it easier for them to produce high-quality content.
