YouTube TV and Fox are locked in a carriage dispute that could leave subscribers unable to watch the first week of college football on Saturday. The sides have until 5 p.m. ET on Wednesday to reach an agreement, or access to Fox channels including FS1 will be lost. If no deal is reached by noon ET on Saturday, viewers may miss the matchup between Texas and Ohio State.
The dispute revolves around payment terms, with YouTube TV claiming Fox’s demands are too high compared to other content providers. The streaming service has offered a $10 credit to affected subscribers if access to Fox channels is lost. Fox disputes this, stating that Google exploits its market influence by proposing unfair terms.
Last week, Fox launched FOX One, a direct-to-consumer streaming service offering Fox Sports properties for $19.99 per month with a seven-day free trial or $199.99 per year. The sides will continue to negotiate, with YouTube TV prioritizing reaching a fair deal that keeps Fox content on the platform without increasing costs for subscribers.
