Zelenskiy Hopes for Quick Energy Strike Ceasefire Amid Ukraine-Russia Talks

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said a halt on energy strikes in the war with Russia could be established quickly, but warned that Ukraine would respond in kind if Moscow violates the terms of the limited ceasefire.

Zelenskiy spoke to U.S. President Donald Trump for the first time since their Oval Office talks, which were seen as “substantive and positive.” The Ukrainian leader said Kyiv will draw up a list of facilities that could be subject to a partial ceasefire brokered by Washington.

The list may include energy, rail, and port infrastructure. Zelenskiy expressed concerns about drones and missiles flying unless there is a corresponding document on the partial ceasefire.

A mass drone attack was reported in central Ukrainian city Kropyvnytskyi, with footage showing large fires and damage to apartment buildings. The regional governor said some injuries were reported, but no deaths.

Zelenskiy also confirmed that Ukraine has received new F-16 fighter jets. Officials are planning to meet with U.S. officials next week in Saudi Arabia to discuss technical details of the partial ceasefire.
