Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called on the international community to confiscate Russian assets and said Moscow’s leadership is “mentally stuck in another century.” This comes after a devastating overnight Russian missile and drone strike on Kyiv, which killed six people, including a six-year-old boy, and injured over 50.
Speaking via video-link at the Helsinki+50 conference in Finland, Zelenskyy condemned Russia’s human rights record and its disregard for European values. He said: “We know that such ideas and such times must never return to Europe.” The Ukrainian leader also thanked US President Donald Trump for his efforts to broker a ceasefire deal.
Zelenskyy’s comments were echoed by Finnish President Alexander Stubb, who called on European countries to choose between using force or respecting state sovereignty. The two leaders emphasized the importance of dialogue and cooperation in finding solutions to conflicts.
