Zohran Mamdani has made it clear on the campaign trail that opposing Israel is central to his identity. However, this stance is rooted in hate rather than justice. He consistently targets the Jewish state and those who support it, while ignoring issues of oppression faced by other Muslim communities.
Mamdani’s lifelong obsession with anti-Israel sentiment began at a young age, influenced by his father’s postcolonialist academic background. As a student at Bowdoin College, he started an anti-Israel club, which is the only organization he has ever led. In recent remarks, Mamdani accused Pro-Israel politicians of being out of touch and suggested that Israel’s existence is no longer relevant due to growing antisemitism.
However, this argument ignores the reality of Israel as a country with 10 million inhabitants, including millions of Arabs. In contrast, the concept of “Palestine” has never existed in its current form before Israel’s creation. Mamdani also criticized Western supporters of Israel, stating that they are delusional and fail to understand the concept of Israel as an idea.
What is striking about Mamdani’s stance is his lack of concern for other oppressed Muslim communities, such as the Uyghurs in China or the Rohingyas in Burma. These groups face significant threats from their governments, while the Palestinian population has experienced limited growth despite Israel’s supposed attempts to genocide them.
Mamdani’s anti-Israel hate is not about fighting oppression; it is specifically aimed at Jews. Despite his use of modern jargon, this ancient hatred remains unchanged and is despicable in its sincerity.
