Zoom’s virtual meeting service has suffered a major global outage, leaving millions of users around the world disconnected. Reports emerged at 3:15 p.m. ET and quickly escalated, with over 60,000 outage reports collected by DownDetector within 30 minutes.
The Zoom status page acknowledged the issue, citing “domain name resolution issues” that were affecting multiple services. However, the problem worsened as the website itself was down, resulting in a 502: Bad gateway error. Emails sent to Zoom corporate were also automatically returned.
Despite efforts to access the app, users encountered a 5003 error when attempting to join meetings. While some individuals managed to start meetings on their own, others faced issues when invited by others.
As of 4:16 p.m. ET, Zoom’s status report confirmed that “domain name resolution issues” were ongoing and that a restore is underway. The company has not provided an explanation for the outage, which appears to be affecting millions globally.
