Former Democratic strategist James Carville has taken a break from politics to share dating advice, citing this year’s “Love is Blind” season finale as the inspiration. The show features couples who date through walls and get engaged without ever seeing each other, focusing on compatible personalities over appearances.
Carville, married to former GOP consultant Mary Matalin for over 30 years, told Fox News Digital that he would advise progressives to “get over their preening” and focus on romance rather than moral superiority. He argued that relationships cannot be built solely on changing someone’s mind or ideology.
The show’s impact on dating habits is evident, with contestants citing political ideologies as a reason to date or not. Carville shared his own experience of broadening his base for love, acknowledging he wasn’t “good-looking enough” initially.
Despite admitting his lack of expertise in romance, Carville praised the complexity and mystery surrounding it. He quoted Shakespeare’s inability to fully explain romance, suggesting that perhaps no one can truly grasp its nature.
