Sony WH-1000XM6 Wireless Headphones Launched with Upgraded Noise Cancellation

Sony has unveiled the WH-1000XM6, its latest flagship wireless noise-canceling headphones. The new model boasts significant improvements over its predecessors, including enhanced audio quality and advanced active noise cancellation. However, it comes at a higher price point of $450, which is $50 more than the XM5.

The WH-1000XM6 features a 30mm driver with high-rigidity carbon fiber composite material, allowing for clearer sound reproduction. The digital-to-analog conversion has also been upgraded to reduce quantization noise and optimize performance in response to sudden sound changes. Additionally, the headphones support various codecs, including SBC, AAC, LDAC, and LC3.

The active noise cancellation system has been improved with 12 microphones and a new QN3 HD Noise Canceling Processor, which is said to be seven times faster than its predecessor. This enables more effective adaptation to ambient noise changes and better noise cancellation performance.

Other notable features include AI-assisted beamforming microphones for enhanced call quality, an updated design with a wider headband and asymmetrical design for easier identification of left and right sides, and a new carry case with a magnetic latch.

While the WH-1000XM6 is priced at $450, those looking to save money can opt for the XM5 or XM4 models, which are currently available for $350 and $300, respectively.
