Ukraine Opens Arms Manufacturer Partnerships for Combat Testing

Ukraine has launched “Test in Ukraine,” a program that invites foreign arms manufacturers to send prototype weapons for combat testing against Russian forces. The Brave1 defense innovation unit aims to trial new technology, including uncrewed aerial systems, robot ground vehicles, and laser weapons.

Minister Mykhailo Fedorov said the initiative will provide hands-on experience in battle, which cannot be replicated in laboratories. Top priorities include partnering with Ukrainian manufacturers to produce tested weapons locally.

The program requires contractors to train Ukrainian troops on using the prototype technology, but it can also be done online. Ukraine assumes control over the tech’s use once it is handed over to Brave1. The move aims to bolster Ukraine’s defense manufacturing industry and provide additional supplies for its troops fighting against Russian forces.

Foreign arms makers have expressed concerns that new technologies are being developed but not tested in combat, making them obsolete. Ukraine’s initiative addresses this issue, allowing manufacturers to test their products on the battlefield.
